A professor of Psycho-Sociology, scholar of history of civilizations, communication sciences, environmental and tourism sciences, filmography and documentary studies. He is Chairman of the European Union Academy of Art and Literary Critics, the “Antinoo” International Arts Centre, the Planning Institute for Quality of Life, the European Award for Tourist Books, Art and Sacred Art Competitions and a member of the juries of international tourist and ecological film festivals.
He is the Director of the National Institute of Tourism Ecology, the European Centre for Tourism and Land Planning, and is the editor of the “Euromediterraneo” magazine, scientific coordinator, since 1970, of the International “Man and his Environment” Film Festival Authority, which, since 1982, is responsible for organising the European Ecology Weeks, and a member of the Italy-Mozambique Culture Centre.
He is also a member of the UK-based “Arnold Toynbee” Academy for the Study of Civilizations, of the “Rachel Carson” Memorial Foundation of New York, of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Montenegro, and is Deputy Chairman of UNIPAX (World Union for Peace and the Fundamental Human Rights and the Rights of People), which is an associate organisation of the United Nations.
He has collaborated with a number of international bodies (UN, OMT, OECD, EEC, UNEP) and has represented Italy on various international committees. He has been active in promoting the Cause for recognizing Saint Francis of Assisi as the Patron Saint of the ecological sciences (Apostolic Bull by John Paul II, 29.11.1979).
He has received many honorary degrees, citizenships and academic qualifications from Italian, European and international institutions. His personality and eclectic culture have earned him the title of “European Man” from “The Times” newspaper, on the occasion of the awarding of the “Emil Noël” Prize in 1987, by the European Institutions, in recognition of his “scientific, cultural and educational contribution to Community policies”.
