Gert Ammann

Ao. Univ. Prof. Dr. – Gert Ammann studied History of Art in Innsbruck, and works, since 1968, at the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum. In 1983, he qualified for German Art History and has been the curator, inter alia, of 8 regional Tyrolean exhibitions (1986 - 2000) and in charge of the creation of the Museum in the Arsenal (1999) and of the extension and general renovation of the Ferdinadeum (2003).

He is the author of many publications on the history of art in Tyrol and Voralberg, from Gothic to Modern, including “Tiroler Oberland” (1973), “Dehio Tirol” (1979), “Alfons Walde” (1981, 4th Ed. 2001), “Dehio Voralberg (1982), “Albin Egger-Lienz” – the General catalog of the Ferdinandeum Collections (1996), the Catalog of the Bruck am Lienz Castle Museum (2001). On 1 October 2005 he retired from the position of Director of the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum.
